About Seed Scheme Support System (SSS)
The Seed Support System (SSS) Scheme is a flagship initiative under the National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations (NIDHI) by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India. This scheme is designed to promote innovation-driven entrepreneurship by providing early-stage financial assistance to promising startups incubated within recognized incubators. It aims to convert viable ideas into scalable startups, thereby contributing to the nation’s startup ecosystem.
Objective
The primary objective of the NIDHI-Seed Support (SS) Program is to ensure the timely availability of seed funding to eligible startups incubated within a recognized incubator. This support enables startups to scale their ventures, enhance product development, and improve their chances of success in a competitive marketplace.
Additionally, the program aims to empower incubators to:
• Strengthen their pipeline of high-potential startups.
• Promote successful startup graduation and market readiness.
• Ensure long-term sustainability and increased operational impact of the incubator itself.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for the NIDHI-Seed Support Program, a startup must meet the following conditions:
- The applicant startup must be a registered company in India, preferably DPIIT-recognized or having applied for DPIIT registration.
The startup should have completed a minimum of 3 months of association with the incubator in its resident or virtual incubation program.
The startup must have demonstrated a clear Unique Selling Proposition (USP), validated through customer interaction and market feedback.
The company must not be an Indian subsidiary of a multinational or foreign corporation.
Applicants holding Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) or Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) status will be considered Indian citizens under this scheme.
The Indian promoters must hold at least 51% equity in the startup.
Preference is given to startups that have not received prior funding from any Government of India or State Government agency.
