India is witnessing a rapidly growing entrepreneurial culture especially in the technology venture room, which promise well not just for the economic growth, but also for meaningful deployment of trained manpower, creation of jobs, ushering in new technologies, products and services and Intellectual Property management. Technology business Incubators are no doubt an important Institutional mechanism that can greatly enhance the probability of survival and further scaling of startup ventures. The immediate challenge is to be able to create sufficient strength in the incubation space not just in terms of numbers and reach but also the quality of incubation processes.

Manufacturing and IP protection are the key activity for the sustained economic growth of any nation in this competitive knowledge economy. India in the recent years has demonstrated its capability in this sector, but is insufficient for the diversity, talent and resources available here. Incubation of engineering/manufacturing based ventures has not been taken up in a big way and this session is aimed at understanding the requirements of this sector and the possible actions that need to be taken up to strengthen this activity in the coming years.

While on one hand there seems to be a lot of positives in the funding scenario in terms of government funds, angel investments, VC money and Private equity, a challenge is still felt by several startups in raising the capital required. The session is aimed to throw more light on the requirements of funding on one side and the actions to be taken on the other side of the startup venture.
